Welcome to the Kinder Room

Kinder Room at The Lodge at Old  City Hall is located in a 1904 historic building in downtown Jefferson City Tennessee. The room has a Queen Bed, numerous amenities, is adjacent to Carson Newman University, 2 miles from Cherokee Lake, historic Glenmore Mansion, Mossback Distillery and several local eateries. The building served as the Jefferson City City Hall from 1929- 1989 and as a public school from 1904-1929. Currently, our beautifully restored building houses the Heritage & Visitor Center at Mossy Creek, Kneads Doughnuts, Patriot Wood Fired Pizza, and 3 upscale lodging rooms.

Fun Facts about the Kinder Room

Chief Robert Kinder was a dedicated Fire Chief who served for 33 years here at Old City Hall.

It is an honor to name this room after him and we dedicate it to those who served in this building for what was just shy of 60 years.

The fire fighters as well as police officers are our true heroes for their many years of dedication and service to our community.

To the right of the first window when you walk in stood the fireplace. The children of the school used the fireplace to keep them warm.

Chalkboards lined the walls along the entrance wall to the left of the door, along the bathroom wall where the coffee hutch is.

The windows are original to the building and have been restored.

This side of the upstairs was turned into an apartment that housed dispatch. Dispatch is now what we call 911.
